MIND Public Life Award for Leadership Excellence
___________________________________________________

   


Purpose
The MIND Public Life Award for Leadership Excellence recognizes Public Servants who have demonstrated excellence in achieving results for Jamaicans, who promote the visibility and reflect the priorities of the public service, while demonstrating key leadership competencies.

The award seeks to discover innovations in governance; reward excellence in the public sector; motivate public servants to further promote innovation; enhance professionalism in the public service; raise the image of public service; enhance trust in government; and collect and disseminate successful practices for possible replication.

The MIND Public Life Award for Leadership Excellence is a feature of its Annual Public Sector Leadership Development Conferences.

Selection Criteria
This year, in keeping with the theme of Conference 2014: Thought Leadership- Creative MIND’s: Enabling Innovation, Transforming Organisations theaward will be decided based on having demonstrated excellence in:

  • Promoting an innovation that resulted in improved service quality and created citizen value
  • Providing direction and support in the transformation of the public service
  • Effectively addressing a public sector management problem of high importance to ministries, departments and agencies

Eligibility for Nomination
Retired and current public sector leaders, who would have served the sector for over ten (10) years and whose leadership practices evidenced the selection criteria, will be eligible for nomination.

Nomination Process
Step 1: Conference Steering Committee identifies nominees. (Each member of the Committee will have only one nominee). MIND will not have a nominee.

Step 2: Nominators submit bio-data and detailed justification for nominees to the Award Committee no later than May 15, 2014

Step 3: The Award Committee reviews submissions and makes a selection

Step 4: The Cabinet Secretary ratifies the selection

Step 5: MIND extends an invitation to the awardee to attend the Public Life Award for Leadership

            Excellence Luncheon and at which the Cabinet Secretary presents the award.

The Nature of the Award
The MIND Public Life Award is non-monetary and will take the form of a citation presented at the MIND Conference on July 10, 2014

Award Committee 2014
The Award Committee, chaired by MIND, will consist of the Conference partners as well as the Office of the Services Commissions.
